Well today we had the great opportunity to go up to a catholic monastery up on the top of a hill in my district! Aside from the over whelming feeling of apostasy as I watched people pray to some statue of Mary or some lady that funded that place, it was cool because I got some cool pictures and saw some cool monkeys!
This week we got two new roommates and they both happen to be Americans. Our house is only Americans! Weird huh? well they are awesome and our area is catching on fire with the success that we are having these days with finding people to teach and such! This Saturday we will have one baptism and maybe another if everything goes as planned! I'm super excited to be out here right now ! We are having tons of success and with that it makes it a million times easier to have a good attitude about everything!
Well I hope all had a good MLK day!

Quite the week this last one that has passed. The most recent thing that has happened to is that transfer calls just came and the two other elders that are in our area are both being transferred.
Last week we re-divided the area and we gained a lot of new ground to cover as well as new members to ask for help from. Due to the transfer of both of the other elders they gave us their investigators because we know their investigators already and we will be better to teach them. The cool thing is we just marked baptism dates with two of them for day 23 of this month! COOL RIGHT!!! They are two young men and they really like Elder G and I so it will go good for us!
On Saturday as we were going to another city on the bus we were involved in a minor bus accident. It was quite the experience. We were sitting in the bus when all of the sudden there was a really loud noise. It sounded like the bus had ran over a motor cycle or something. Because I have already seen like 7 dead mangled bodies on my mission I didn’t look back to see what it was. The bus stopped and everyone ran of. I thought they were running off because it was on fire but in the end I saw that they were just running off because they wanted to get on the next bus. As I got off I saw that all that had happened is that a little car had for some reason hit the wheel on the back of the bus and the bus basically passed over the hood of the car. NO DEAD BODIES WHERE THERE! I was pretty exited about that. Because everyone ran to get another bus we were the last to get off when the bus driver asked us to be witnesses to the accident. I said I didn’t see it and he explained what happened and asked me to witness. I said sure but then I thought….isn’t a witness supposed to see it and not just say what the driver says what happens. Oh well. Let’s just hope that they don’t call. I could just use the gringo factor and I’m sure that they will leave me alone.
Well good second week of the year to everyone and a happy transfer week to all!

Happy 2010!
So If you haven’t heard yet it is now 2010! And we all know what that means. It means that in exactly 10 months from today I will be back on Yankee soil! Weird thought right?
So this last week we have spent most of our time trying to find new investigators and the only method of finding new that seems to be working is through knocking, well, clapping doors. We seem to be able to teach a few people but it is usually a little difficult to get them to go to church being that it is a fairly long way to the church from our area. President Pickett gave us some good instructions about how to re-divide the area so that we can have more space to work and also more members to help us out.
On Saturday we had the opportunity to go over to the house of Patricia who was one of our two baptisms a few weeks back. She lives basically up in the jungle so it was pretty fun. The other elders in the ward went up there with us and we had a little family night type thing. We spent most of the time boulder jumping with them and taking some really awesome pictures that look like we are in the middle of the sky. As they were giving us the grand tour they showed us a vine that had grown. Yes a real Tarzan vine and I had the privilege to take a few swings on it. I was probably like 15 or so feet in the air after taking a running jump. I was terrified that it would break but surprisingly it was very strong. I spent some time trying to catch some chickens and in the end I ended up getting one and I was able to hypnotize it by putting it on the ground and drawing a straight line in front of its face. There are also enormous lizards up there that are about the size of Lex the dog but way longer and would probably devour him.
Well, happy new years to all of you and I hope that it brings many great things to all…(aside from me being in your presence again.) ;)
Love,
Elder Johnson
