Things are flying by down here. Transfer is next week. I could be leaving Rio Bonito but who knows. Hopefully I have one more in this area even if I do have to stay with the same companion. Funny story. Elder N was cutting his own hair with a machine and he stopped to clean it because it was making noise. He fixed it and went back to work on his hair. The funny thing is he forgot to put the attachment back on. So long story short, he cut a stripe in the back of his head. I sent a picture. The really funny thing is that he is a pretty boy and is in love with his hair, so he pretty much cried over it.
I hope all is going well for you all.
Love you all!
Jeff

Good for Russell not dying.
It was fun emailing the children but a little stressful to have to respond to like 300 million emails! I almost had a panic attack. Tomorrow we have another baptism! woo hoo! I took pictures of the one on saturday but I forgot my camera. oops. Today I have interviews with president for the first time since January! woo hoo! Conference was yesterday so I was in Rio. He told the whole mission about the mission split so you can tell that to whoever now. I did get the money and used it for food and to go to mission conference and back. I have a 100 dollar refund hanging in the balance so we will see when i get that! Love you all and take care"!

T minus 19 and counting

HELLO!
Things are going well for us out here in the land of Brazil! Last week we had a stellar baptism with Thomas and tomorrow Suellen is going to be baptized!
Yesterday we had mission conference! It was swell, I enjoyed going into the city again and got some good pictures. We took a boat this time across the bay and it was in a pretty awesome storm so we had a little bit of excitement! Yesterday I met the other Elder Johnson of this mission for the first time. He only has 2 months more left on the mission. He said he had a revelation and he and I are going to be companions this next transfer. We will see what happens. Its funny because when we would talk to people on the street the first thing they always say is "Johnson & Johnson" ha-ha. I think we would convert many just from the awesome name.
T minus 19 days till I call home! Hope everyone is getting excited for me! I know I will have a killer accent! I can see it now….everyone will be like…"talk in Portuguese!" Then mother will cry as well as Rachel, Emma, Russell, Susie, then father and Niles, and then Lex will be home sick for me again.
Well hope all is going well for yall!
Tchau!
Jeff!

Jeff's Email- 15 April 2009

Dear everyone,
This week started with something really awesome! We now have a washing machine in our house!!! Such a great blessing! While going to get the washing machine I witnessed a little boy about 10 years old get pegged by a car, fly into the air, and land back on the ground about 25 feet later. It was a little intense. So now I have been robbed, seen 4 dead bodies, and seen a child get hit by a car. Pretty intense and just a little under 6 months. The kid was fine, it was just a little bit of an intense experience.
This Saturday we are baptizing Thomas! A fifteen year old elect investigator! Next week we will baptize Suelen, and the next week will probably be Eirca! Things are starting to pick up! Pretty soon we wont have any time to email we will have so many people to be baptized. But until then!

E aconteceu,
And I came to pass,
Well another week has passed in the land of Brasil and once again I have a new companion. After spending a week with Elder O, he is now gone to his house. It was a long "trunky" week for him. He is going home early to start school. Last night I stayed at the house of the assistants and today I returned back to Rio Bonito with my new companion. He is a professional soccer player for which I have no clue which team. He is pretty awesome! English is slowling withering from my mind as I only speak when he asks me what a word means or today when I am typing it. Hopefully I wont speak too horrible of english when I return.
The english class is going well. I just sit there and answer questions for a while until the end when they have been trapped and we grab their address and go and challenge their lives with the gospel.
Cool story...we were teaching this family and they have a little son about 7 years of age. During the lesson we always ask questions to see if they are paying attention. His mom, older sister could never answer but he always knew exactly what to say. We asked them to pray about it and we returned on the following day. The first thing he said to me was that he prayed, he knew José Smith was a prophet and that this was the true church. He turns 8 this August so who ever will be working here at that time will have a nice easy baptism on their hands. Hopefully if all góes as planned his family will be baptized here in a few weeks and his baptism wont count as a convert baptism.
Anyways I am starving from a long day of travel and want to get into my house before the rains come so until next week!

To whom it may concern,

Yet another week has come and gone and this time it brings great news. My father, (trainer), Elder M has been transferred to Campos. It was sad to see my father leave me but I had to let him go. The work must go on.
My new comp is a professional soccer player who is just leaving the office where he was a secretary for about six months. Elder M was actually this guys trainer last year.
Because he is gone, the English class we have been teaching now rests upon me. It will be difficult because I don’t even know English that well but I am excited to see how it goes!
Its been raining like crazy lately! We're finally out of the hottest summer of my life so it's getting a little more bearable here with the heat.
Well I must bid you farewell until another week has passed.
Com amor,
-Elder Jeffrey Johnson
